Bolton is a town in Greater Manchester, and has a population of 128,139. The current average sale price is £315,042. Bolton lies 10 miles northwest of Manchester and is close to the West Pennine Moors.

Bolton was a former mill town and it was a boomtown during the Industrial Revolution. At one stage there was 216 cotton mills in the town. It was a market town during the Middle Ages; a charter was granted to hold a market in 1251. Sites of interest in Bolton include the Octagon Theatre, which has a capacity of 300-400. Bolton Museum is a museum and art gallery in the town, and there is also a central library. Ye Olde Man & Scythe is one of the oldest public houses in the United Kingdom and was first mentioned in 1251. Smithills Hall is Grade I listed and dates from the fifteenth-century. Bolton Town Hall was built during the nineteenth-century. Bolton Market Hall opened in the 1850s and now holds a shopping centre. Hall i' th' Wood is a sixteenth-century manor house and is Grade I listed. Bolton Steam Museum houses preserved steam engines.

Bolton Wanderers F.C. play at University of Bolton Stadium. There are sports facilities for sports including hockey, cricket and rugby.
